The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) offers free tax help to low to moderate income individuals who are unable to prepare their own tax returns. Certified volunteers sponsored by various organizations receive training to help prepare basic tax returns.

You will need to bring the following documents to recieve tax preparation assistance:
- Proof of identification (required)
- Social security cards, including those of all dependants (required)
- Wage and tax statement(s) Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, from all employers
(required)
- Interest and dividend statement(s) (Form 1099) from financial institutions (required)
- Copies of your 2008 Federal and State tax returns are helpful, but not required
